༄༅། །སེར་བྱེས་བྲ་ཏི་ཁང་ཚན་འདི་ཉིད་ནི་རབ་བྱུང་བདུན་པའི་ས་ཕག་ཕྱི་ལོ་༡༤༡༩ལོར་༧རྗེ་བྱམས་ཆེན་ཆོས་རྗེས་སེ་རྭ་ཐེག་ཆེན་གླིང་ཕྱག་བཏབ་པའི་དུས་མཚམས་ནས་བྱུང་བ་ཞིག་ཡིན་ཞིང་། དེ་སྔོན་ཁང་ཚན་འདི་ཉིད་སེ་རྭའི་གྲྭ་ཚང་བཞི་ཡི་ནང་གསེས་རྒྱ་གྲྭ་ཚང་དུ་གྲགས་པ་དེ་ཉིད་ཡིན་པ་ལས། དུས་ཕྱིས་སེ་རྭ་བྱེས་ཕྱག་བཏབ་ནས་སྟོད་པ་གྲྭ་ཚང་གི་སྤོ་གུང་མ་གཏོགས་ཕལ་ཆེར་དང་། འབྲོམ་སྟེང་། རྒྱ་གྲྭ་ཚང་བཅས་སེར་བྱེས་གྲྭ་ཚང་དུ་འགྲིལ་བ་ནས་བཟུང་། བྲ་ཏི་ཁང་ཚན་ཞེས་ཁང་ཚན་གྱིས་ཚུལ་དུ་ཆགས་པ་ཡིན་པས་ཁང་ཚན་སྔ་ཤོས་ཀྱང་ཡིན། སེ་རྭ་བླ་སྤྱིའི་སྣ་ཆེན་བཅུ་གསུམ་གྱི་ནང་ནས་ཚྭ་བ་དང་བྲ་ཏིའི་སྣ་ཆེན་གཉིས་དང་། ཚྭ་བ་དང་བྲ་ཏིའི་བོད་པ་མི་ཚན་གྱི་སྣ་ཆེན་གཅིག་བཅས་གསུམ་ལས་གཞན་བཅུ་སྨད་ནས་ཡིན་པ་དང་། གཙང་པ་མི་ཚན་། རྩེད་ཐང་། གཉལ་པ། རྒྱལ་བྱེད། ཨེ་པ། དྭགས་པོ་སྟེ་ཕྱི་མི་ཚན་དྲུག་དང་། མོན་པ། བོད་པ། རྒྱ་སྟེ་ནང་མི་ཚན་གསུམ་ཡོད་པར་བརྟེན་གྲྭ་ཚང་འདིའི་ནང་ཁང་ཚན་ཆེ་གྲས་ཤིག་ཀྱང་ཡིན། སྔར་བོད་དུ་ཚོགས་ཆེ་སྐབས་དགེ་འདུན་ཞལ་གྲངས་ལྔ་བརྒྱ་ལྷག་ཡོད་པ་དང་། དེང་རྒྱ་གར་འཕགས་ཡུལ་དུ་ཚོགས་ཆེ་སྐབས་དགེ་འདུན་ཞལ་གྲངས་བཞི་བརྒྱ་ལྷག་བྱུང་ཡོད། དགའ་ལྡན་ཁྲི་ཐོག་ཉེར་གཉིས་པ་རྗེ་བཙུན་འཇམ་དཔལ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་དང་། སེར་བྱེས་མཁན་ཁྲི་གཉིས་པ་གཉལ་སྟོན་དཔལ་འབྱོར་ལྷུན་གྲུབ། སེར་བྱེས་མཁན་ཁྲི་ལྔ་པ་རྗེ་བཙུན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་མཚན། སེར་བྱེས་མཁན་ཁྲི་བཅོ་ལྔ་པ་འཁོན་སྟོན་དཔལ་འབྱོར་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་རྣམས་་ཁང་ཚན་འདི་ནས་བྱོན་པ་བཅས་ཀྱི་ལོ་རྒྱུས་སྙིང་བསྡུས་སུ། །

༑དེ་ཡང་ཐོག་མར་རྗེ་བྱམས་ཆེན་ཆོས་རྗེ་ཤཱཀྱ་ཡེ་ཤེས་དཔལ་བཟང་པོ་མཆོག་ནི། ཕྱི་ལོ་༡༣༥༤ རབ་བྱུང་དྲུག་པའི་ཤིང་ཕོ་རྟའི་ལོ་སྣྲོན་ཟླའི་ཡར་ངོས་ཚེས་གཅིག་ཉིན་ཚལ་གུང་ཐང་དུ་ཚལ་པའི་དབོན་བརྒྱུད་དུ་སྐུ་འཁྲུངས་ཤིང་། ཆུང་གཞོན་ནུའི་དུས་ནས་སྔོན་གནས་རྗེས་དྲན་སོགས་དམ་པའི་རང་རྟགས་མང་དུ་བྱུང་། རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་ལ་རབ་ཏུ་བྱུང་ནས་མཚན་ཤཱཀྱ་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཞེས་གསོལ། མཁས་གྲུབ་ཀྱི་བཤེས་གཉེན་དུ་མ་བསྟེན་སྟེ་རྒྱལ་བའི་གསུང་རབ་མཐའ་དག་ལ་སྦྱངས་པར་མཛད། ཁྱད་པར་དུ་རྗེ་ཙོང་ཁ་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་སྤྱན་སྔར་མདོ་སྔགས་ཀྱི་ཟབ་ཁྲིད་མང་དུ་གསན་ནས་མཁས་པའི་དབང་པོར་གྱུར་ཀྱང་ཡོན་ཏན་ཐམས་ཅད་ནང་དུ་སྦས་པར་མཛད་ཅིང་། རྗེ་ཉིད་ལ་སངས་རྒྱས་དངོས་ཀྱི་འདུ་ཤེས་བརྟན་པོ་འཁྲུངས་ནས་ཉེ་གནས་མཛད་པ་སོགས་ཅི་གསུངས་བཀའ་བཞིན་སྒྲུབ་པས་མཆོད་པར་མཛད། ༧རྗེ་ཙོང་ཁ་པ་ཆེན་པོའིིིིི་སྐུ་ཚབ་ཏུ་རྒྱ་ཡུལ་ཏ་མིང་རྒྱལ་པོའི་དབུ་བླར་ཕེབས་ནས་ངོ་ཚ་བའི་ལྟས་དུ་མ་དང་བཅས་ཞྭ་སེར་གྱི་བསྟན་པ་གསལ་བར་མཛད། དགོན་པ་འདེབས་པ་སོགས་བསྟན་འགྲོའི་དོན་རྒྱ་ཆེན་བསྐྱངས་ཏེ་བོད་དུ་ཕྱིར་ཕེབས། སྔོན་གྱི་ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་སྨོན་ལམ་དུས་སུ་སྨིན་པ་ན་་རྒྱལ་བའི་ལུང་རྟོགས་ཀྱི་བསྟན་པ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་སྲིད་མཐའི་བར་དུ་གནས་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཕྱིར། འདུལ་བའི་བསླབ་ཁྲིམས་རྣམ་པར་དག་པ་ལ་བརྟེན་པའི་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་སྡེ་བཙུགས་ནས་མདོ་སྔགས་ཀྱི་བཤད་སྒྲུབ་རྐང་ཚུགས་པ་ཞིག་བྱེད་དགོས་ཞེས་འཇམ་མགོན་བླ་མ་ཙོང་ཁ་པ་ཆེན་པོས་ཞལ་ཏ་རྒྱས་པ་གནང་བ་ལྟར་སེ་རྭ་ཆོས་སྡིངས་སུ་སྔགས་ཀྱི་འཆད་ཉན་བཙུགས། ཕྱི་ལོ་༡༤༡༩རབ་བྱུང་བདུན་པའི་ས་ཕག་ལོར་སེ་རྭ་ཐེག་ཆེན་གླིང་ཕྱག་བཏབ་སྟེ་ལོ་གཉིས་ཙམ་རིང་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འཁོར་ལོ་བསྐོར་ནས་བཞུགས་པར་མཛད་ཅིང་། དགེ་འདུན་འདུ་ཆེ་བར་བརྟེན་སྟོད་པ་གྲྭ་ཚང་། སྨད་གྲྭ་ཚང་། རྒྱ་གྲ་ཚང་། འབྲོམ་སྟེང་གྲྭ་ཚང་བཅས་གྲྭ་ཚང་བཞི་བཙུགས་ནས་བཀའ་བཅུ་པ་དར་རྒྱས་བཟང་པོ་སོགས་འཆད་ཉན་པར་ཞལ་བསྐོས་གནང་ནས། ཕྱི་ལོ་༡༤༢༤ ལོར་སླར་ཡང་རྒྱ་ཡུལ་དུ་སྤྱན་དྲངས་པ་ལྟར་ཕེབས་ཏེ་མར་ལམ་མཛོ་མོ་མཁར་གྱི་གནས་འདིར་དགོན་པ་འདེབས་ན་ལེགས་པའི་ལུང་བསྟན་གནང་། རྒྱ་ཡུལ་དུ་འགྲོ་དོན་རྒྱ་ཆེར་སྤེལ་ནས་བོད་དུ་ཕྱིར་ཕེབས་པའི་ལམ་བར་ཨ་མདོ་མཛོ་མོ་མཁར་དུ་དགུང་ལོ་བརྒྱད་བཅུ་གྱ་གཉིས་བཞེས་པ་ཕྱི་ལོ་༡༤༣༥ རབ་བྱུང་བདུན་པའི་ཤིང་ཡོས་ལོའི་སྨིན་དྲུག་ཟླ་བའི་ཚེས་ཉེར་བཞི་ཉིན་དགོངས་པ་ཆོས་དབྱིངས་སུ་གཤེགས། མཁན་ཆེན་ཤཱཀྱ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་པས་གནས་དེར་དམ་ཆོས་ཐར་གླིང་དགོན་ཞེས་པ་ཕྱག་བཏབ་པའི་ནང་རྟེན་དུ་བྱམས་ཆེན་ཆོས་རྗེའི་རིང་བསྲེལ་སྙིང་པོར་བཞུགས་པའི་མཆོད་རྟེན་དང་། གོང་མ་རྒྱལ་པོས་བཞེངས་པའིི་རྗེ་འདི་ཉིད་ཀྱི་འདྲ་སྐུ། བཀའ་འགྱུར་གསེར་བྲིས་མ་སོགས་དད་རྟེན་ཁྱད་འཕགས་དུ་མ་བཞུགས་སོ།
རྗེ་བཙུན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་མཚན་དཔལ་བཟང་པོའི་རྣམ་ཐར་མདོར་བསྡུས་ནི།
རྗེ་བཙུན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་མཚན་དཔལ་བཟང་པོ་མཆོག་ནི། ཕྱི་ལོ་༡༤༦༩ རབ་བྱུང་བརྒྱད་པའི་ས་མོ་གླང་ལོར་གཙང་མྱང་སྟོད་དུ་སྐུ་འཁྲུངས། དགུང་ལོ་བདུན་པར་གནས་སྙིང་ཀུན་དགའ་བདེ་ལེགས་གྱི་དྲུང་དུ་དགེ་བསྙེན་གྱི་སྡོམ་པ་བཞེས། དགུང་ལོ་བཅུ་གསུམ་པར་དགེ་ཚུལ་གྱི་སྡོམ་པ་བཞེས་ཏེ་ཆོས་གྲྭ་ཆེན་པོ་བཀྲ་ཤིས་ལྷུན་པོར་ཆོས་བཞུགས་ཀྱིས་སློབ་གཉེར་མཛད།དགུང་ལོ་བཅོ་ལྔར་ཚད་མར་མཁས་པར་གྲགས། དགུང་ལོ་བཅོ་བརྒྱད་པར་ཕར་ཚད་དབུ་གསུམ་འདུལ་མཛོད་བཅས་ལ་མཁས་པར་གྲགས་པས་རིགས་ལམ་སྨྲ་བའི་གཙུགས་རྒྱན་དུ་གྱུར། པན་ཆེན་ལུང་རིགས་པ་དང་ཀུན་མཁྱེན་ཆོས་འབྱོར་གཉིས་ཀྱི་དབུས་སྔ་རྗེས་སུ་མཚན་ལྡན་གྱི་དགེ་བའི་བཤེས་གཉེན་བཅོ་ལྔ་ཙམ་གྱི་ཞབས་ལ་གཏུགས་ཏེ་གདམས་ངག་བུམ་པ་གང་བྱོའི་ཚུལ་དུ་ཞུས།དགུང་ལོ་ཉེར་གསུམ་ཡན་ཆད་གཙང་ཕྱོགས་སུ་མདོ་སྔགས་ཀྱི་གསན་སྦྱོང་རྒྱ་ཆེར་མཛད་པས་ས་དགེའི་མཁས་པ་ཀུན་གྱི་ཡིད་སྨོན་གྱི་གནས་སུ་གྱུར། དགུང་ལོ་ཉེར་བཞི་པར་སེ་རྭར་ཕེབས། དགུང་ལོ་ཉེར་ལྔར་ཆོས་རྗེ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་བཟང་པོ་ལས་བསྙེན་པར་རྫོགས། དགུང་ལོ་ཉེར་བདུན་ལོར་བླ་མའི་བཀས་བསྐུལ་ནས་གཙང་ཕྱོགས་སུ་ཕེབས་ནས་གནས་སྙིང་སེ་རྭ་གྲྭ་ཚང་གི་འཆ ད་ཉན་ལོ་གསུམ་རིང་གནང་སྟེ་གདུལ་བྱ་རྣམས་དམ་པའི་ཆོས་ཀྱིས་ཚིམ་པར་མཛད། དགུང་ལོ་ཞེ་གསུམ་ལོར་སེར་བྱེས་མཁས་སྙན་གྲྭ་ཚང་གི་ཁྲི་ལ་ཕེབས། དགུང་ལོ་བདུན་བཅུ་པ་ལ་སེ་རྭ་ཐེག་ཆེན་གླིང་གི་ཁྲིར་ཕེབས། དགུང་ལོ་དོན་དྲུག་ལོར་སྐུ་ཞི་བར་གཤེགས་པའི་ལོ་རྒྱུས་སྙིང་བསྡུས་སུ།། །།
Origin in Tibet – Sera Je Drati Khangtsen was founded by “Je Jamchen Choeje Shakya Yeshe Pal Zangpo” in 1419 AD, long before Sera Thechenling or Sera Mahayana University was founded. It was also during the time of great Lama Tzongkhapa (1357 to 1490), who is the founder of Gelug School or the yellow hat (which is one of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism).
Lama Tsonkhapa was invited by one of the then Chinese emperors of Taming dynasty to China to teach Buddhism as his fame had spread to all the parts of Tibet, China and Mongolia at that time. Je Jamchen Choeje as his representative went to China and spread the religion of the Yellow Hat or Shaser (Gelug Tradition)
There, he built many monasteries and did many other things for the welfare of sentient beings and returned to Tibet. For Buddhist religion to last till every sentient being has achieved nirvana, as Lama Tzongkhapa has contributed he took incumbency the command of his Guru to make the community of Sanghas or clean subdued morality.
In the year of Pig, 1419 he founded Sera Mahayana University and stayed there for two years, teaching dharma. When more Sanghas enrolled, he made four communities namely Toepa Dratsang, Mey Dratsang, Gya Dratsang, Domteng Dratsang and appointed Ka Chupa Dargyal Zangpo etc. as teachers.
Later, Kunkhen Lodroe Rinchen Senge founded the Sera Je Monastery and he combined almost every monastery including Domteng and Gya Dratsang to Sera Je Monastery leaving Toepa Dratsang. Then for the flourishing of number of the Sanghas , Gya Dratsang came to be known as Drati Khangtsen which is earliest and first Khangtsen of this monastery. (Note: Khangtsen are sections or groups of the main Monastery where monks, speaking the same languages and same ethnic groups stay together as a community)
“Trati” is a Sanskrit word meaning: “pioneer” or “first” for being the first Khangtsen of Sera Je Monastery.
Due to the contribution of early staffs and spiritual heads, there became no complexity and discussions. This Khangtsen included Tsangpa, Tsethang, Nyalpa, Gyalje, Aepa, Dhagpo from six outer department and Monpa, Tibetan, Chinese, three inner departments. Therefore, this Khangtsen was one of the biggest Khangtsen of this monastery.
Re – establishment in India –
Post 1959: Buxa Rehabilitation Camp:
After the complete invasion of Tibet by China in 1959, the members of all Tibetan Buddhist monasteries were rehabilitated at a special camp at “Buxa” in the state of West Bengal for the preservation of Buddhist teachings and practices which was under threat of extinction during that time.
Drati Khangtsen, which was once a large and famous Khangtsen faced great threat of its survival at that time without the great leadership and help of only three senior monks who were able to escape into India along with others. They are Geshe Lobsang Sherab, Geshe Jampa Choephel and Late Venerable Nyerpa Lak. After that Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche also admitted to Sera Je Monastery and Sera Je Drati Khangtsen as young reincarnated Lawudo Tulku.
Re-establishment at South India:
The monks of Sera monastery were shifted to Bylakuppe, in Mysore district in the south Indian state of Karnataka in early 1970s. This was followed by clearing of small plots of forest areas and the construction of small houses for the monks which was sponsored by the Indian government.
With the sincerity and great efforts of seniors’ monks, Drati Khangtsen also received few new entrants from nearby Tibetan settlements, Himalayan regions and Bhutan. The total number of the monks at Drati Khangtsen was 12 at that time. These newly arrived students became the seeds of future Drati Khangtsen.
